Miss Havisham Continuity Shoot Evaluation...

Overall I was really pleased with my final outcomes of my Miss Havisham continuity shoot. I had taken the time to research quite a bit in to the character of Miss Havisham and felt that I had enough visual and written evidence to create my design. I started the assessment feeling nervous but I felt confident as I had taken the time to practise my look several times and felt more than confident with each of the steps that needed to be carried out. I was at one point quite worried about the time as my model Ayesha has a very large amount of hair and it is very thick, and I had to back comb it all and create texture. But after having practised in Seema’s lesson beforehand I found that this gave me the chance to figure out how exactly I would do it in the assessment. I feel that I managed my time well in the assessment and planned each of my steps accordingly, making sure that I had enough time for them. I finished with about 5 minutes to spare so I was able to go back and touch up anything I wanted to perfect. I made sure that I referred back to my face chart and hair designs while creating the look, so that I could replicate my design exactly. I believe that I was professional and kept a good standard of hygiene throughout the assessment and I made sure that my model was ok. I absolutely loved creating the hair for my Miss Havisham design, the texture and shape really excited me and I had a lot of fun manipulating the hair in to the shape that I desired. I made some cob web props to add in to the hair to add texture and character. I wanted to keep the make up pretty minimal but I wanted to create bruising and weepy wounds to portray Miss Havishams lifestyle. By this I mean how she was never exposed to light and her skin would have been very badly malnourished. Also, as a result of her issues and depression she would harm herself so I wanted to portray this by adding the wounds on to her face. My Miss Havisham assessment was my most favourite to date. I feel really proud of the hair and makeup.

Cleanse, Toner and Moisturiser

Crownbrush Shadow Pallet

Home made Spider web - Glue Gun, Glitter, Wadding
Illamasqua White Base
Kryolan eye shadow
Sponges
Camouflage concealer pallet
Hair Dryer

How to:

Wash hands
Put cape on model
Cleanse tone and moisturise face
Apply small amount of Illamasqua white base on to face (less is more to begin with)
Dab on and then buff in making sure you get right in to the hair lines, nooks and crannies, also don't forget to do ears and neck
Using the darker purple and blue shades of the Crownbrush shadow palette, lightly dust in the creases and under the eyes to create ageing effect, contouring, gaunt look- blend well
Using a tiny bit of the Illamasqua White base dab on to lips just to give a pale effect
Using the Duo Fibre glue put small amount on to desired area and dry with a cool setting on the hair dryer and pinch together ever so slightly
Once dry let go and then peel away as desired
Add colours/depth/shade using what ever products you want too
Using an eyelash make up brush work in some Illamasqua white base going through the hairs one way then back the other

Hair how too:

Back comb whole of hair
Section top half of hair and pin up out of the way
With section at bottom wrap around prop and pin secure
With top section back comb some more just to make sure it has enough texture for when you come to manipulate the shape in to the design you created
Pin bits of the hair up using grips sticking to hair design
Using some of the hair that falls down, dread
Put glitter in hair to give cold effect
Spray with hair spray

Miss Havisham Continuity Shoot Images

So here are some images from my phone of my Miss Havisham Continuity process. I wanted to focus more on the hair this time around. With the make up being subtle with depth in the bruising and contouring. I added a few sores on the face to give the impression that my Miss Havisham character never exposed her skin to light and also had a self harm problem due to the stresses she had suffered/was suffering in her life. I wanted to focus more on the hair this time around as I wanted to challenge myself personally as before this shoot I hadn't really had much interest in hair as a whole. I wanted to create something that matched the brief but where I could go a little crazy with the texture, and depth. Thankfully my model Ayesha had very thick and very long hair, so I had more than enough hair to use to create my desired look. I also wanted the hair to be the focal point as over the years, with out any TLC the hair would most likely be the first element of the body to go bad, i.e matte, knot, fray etc.

Miss Havisham Design Practise - Seema

In todays lesson with Seema we practised our hair designs for out Miss Havisham looks we had created for our Timed Assessment. Ayesha was my model, and as you can see from the pictures she has very long thick hair! I had not yet worked on this amount of hair so this was most definitely a challenge for myself. Having said that I felt really lucky to have so much hair to work with and actually, I needed lots of hair to create the shape and texture of my design.

Seema, Miss Havisham timed assessment practise.

Products used:

1. Fine tooth comb

2. Cape

3. Paddle Brush

4. Pins

5. Prop

6. Hair spray

7. Glitter

8. Homemade prop ( cob web )

Steps:

· Brush through hair

· Section in to two parts, top and bottom, section from middle of head

· Pin top section out of the way

· Back comb bottom section and using prop wrap around and pin in to place

· Backcomb top section and mould in to shape

· Pin props in

· Add glitter to add to cold effect

A little texture...

I wanted to create some sort of texture to add to my hair design for my Miss Havisham look... I had a little play around with my glue gun and some wadding and glitter and this is what I came up with... I will add this in to the hair at the end. I thought that the cobwebs represented decay well.

A little more hair inspiration for my Miss Havisham look...

This sculpture screams decay to me. For me the focal point is the hair. It is very sparse and if it were real hair looks very thin. It almost looks like it is dripping off the head. It has inspired me to create some sort of dreadlock effect at the bottom of the hair for my Miss Havisham look.

I particularly love the volume in the above picture. It looks as though it has been back combed heavily to create great texture and height. This shape would work brilliantly as a silhouette. I would like to create a similar texture in my Miss Havisham design.

I adore the above picture. It is very chilling and you can tell that it has been well thought about and executed. It really gives off a Miss Havisham feel! Again I would like to create a similar texture in my design for Miss H.
