Skin problems caused by Depression/Stress and Anxiety

I thought it would be quite interesting to research in to skin irritations/problems that are caused by Stress and Depression. Miss Havisham self harms by scratching away at her skin constantly, probably as a way to relieve some tension and deal with her anxiety. This is caused by her but I wanted to show different types of skin irritations caused by stress as we have been learning how to create skin defects in our practical's.

Acne is linked to stress, and normally appears on the face, but in some cases can appear on your body. Acne is basically pustules, white heads, black heads that become inflamed due to stress. You can treat acne with creams and lotions but having a healthy approach to life and a clear and stress free mind set can help cure it. Here are some examples of acne:

Psoriasis is a skin condition that is very closely related to stress and anxiety. It appears as silvery scales, and it can be sore and itchy. The main areas on the body it normally appears on are the neck, scalp, elbows and chest. It can worsen when stress levels are increased.

Hives are typically known to be caused by allergic reactions. But it is also quite common to get Hives when you are stressed, depressed or suffer from anxiety. Hives are fluid filled blisters that appear on the neck, back, torso and face.
